During the winter, Chapelco becomes an excellent tourist place to take advantage of snowy landscapes making all kinds of sports. One of the best ways to enjoy this wonderful destination is to hire a sleigh ride pulled by dogs to go through the beech forests covered with snow.

The place where this adventure is organized is the Forest of the Huskies and the owner of the venture is Paul Germann who came to San Martin de Los Andes for ten years and is an expert in racing sleds pulled by dogs. The mountain retreat is all the noise away from touristic and from there starts the journey. The company has 54 Siberian and Alaskan huskies dogs fully trained local guides.
The tour consists of a walk through a forest of beech than 250 hectares and the trip itself, streams and swamps. Departures are every half hour beginning at 10 am and the last at 17, just before close the hill.
As it progresses into the woods, the guides take advantage of the lovely silence of the environment to tell the story of these particular dogs that descended from the Arctic wolf. They were bred centuries ago by a tribe of Siberian Husky and were later used by gold prospectors. They are accustomed to running long distances of 70 km. frozen trails withstand extremely low temperatures to 30 degrees below zero.
This tour is a unique experience that mixes many feelings to explore the beauty of the landscape and experience a journey that recalls ancient traditions.
